There is a biblical verse that says: ‘Ask and ye shall receive’. Shared Thoughts Book Club asked for donations for our 2017 Walk to End Lupus Now fundraiser and we received your generous contributions,
and we want to take this moment to say thank you for answering our call.
This is the 3rd year Shared Thoughts Book Club has walked with the Lupus Foundation of America - NJ Chapter and each year our goal is to raise more money than the last year. This year our goal was to raise $1,000.00. Because of the generosity and kindness of people like you, not only did we reach our goal, we surpassed it!!! It was our honor to present the grand total of $3,263.00 on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the walk!!! Again, we thank you and recognize that this would not have been possible if it had not been for you!!!
The Lupus Foundation of America, New Jersey Chapter, Inc. (LFANJ) was created in 1975 by five young women from New Jersey who were all affected by lupus. For the first 10 years, the organization was run exclusively by volunteers. Today, LFANJ provides services to more than 4,000 individuals a year. The foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to enriching and improving the quality of life for individuals and families affected by lupus. In 1977, the New Jersey Chapter was instrumental in founding the national organization, The Lupus Foundation of America (LFA). The purpose of the LFA is to provide a national presence and awareness of lupus.
This fundraiser is dear to our hearts, as two members of our club are living with Lupus, and recently, one of the members who relocated was recently diagnosed. Lupus is a difficult illness for one to understand. Many of the problems it causes are invisible and difficult to anticipate. You can look perfectly fine on the outside, and still be chronically ill on the inside. Because of the unpredictable nature of the illness, those who are living with this illness never know when their life may change.
Again, Shared Thoughts Book Club would like to thank each and every-one of you for your contribution, whether it was $5.00 or $500.00, each dollar matters and is going toward research and finding a cure. Thank you once again.
